ANOREXIA I was suffering from anorexia at the age of 55 which I had from my teenage years. My family intervened and the doctor referred me to Dr Beary at the Priory. After initial treatment it was decided I needed a Nutritionist, Jacqueline England, to cover the eating side. I saw Jacqueline on a weekly basis. I can honestly say without Jacqueline I would not be where I am today. Jacqueline taught me about what my body needed and how to eat healthily, also to enjoy the foods I like and introduce them to my diet. I thought I was suffering from IBS so would avoid food - Jacqueline proved to me by introducing food that I have no IBS. I realised you need food for your brain and other organs. I also suffered from severe anxiety which Jacqueline was able to help me with too. Jacqueline coming to my home enabled me to completely relax. It also helped as she could really get to know me. I needed help cooking for my family and we discussed food menus and what food to buy. I am still eating the way Jacqueline has shown me and continue to move forward. I can now eat out anywhere and find something to eat. Life has begun for me. It never really leaves you but I can now manage and enjoy food again.
WEIGHT MANAGEMENT After years of yoyo dieting I decided to see a nutritionist and do things properly. I needed to be able to keep the weight off and eat normally and healthily for the rest of my life. I was starting to get diabetes and was so over weight I could not do all the activities I wanted to anymore. Jacqueline changed me to a normal eater of normal weight. I lost 4 stone and have never put it back on again. I eat healthily now most days and prefer it that way as I feel and look so much better than I did before. I have also reversed my diabetes. Jacqueline taught me how to lose weight properly so that I would not put it back on again. She helped me understand food and how the body works. I was given lots of support and education about cooking and recipes. What surprised me was that if you do it properly, it is not really that difficult to do. The problem is everyone is trying to get you to do it the wrong way and you get a lot of untrue information. I can now do whatever I want and feel so much happier and confident. I would recommend Jacqueline to any of my family and friends.
IBS For years I was suffering with stomach problems. Sometimes it was diarrohea, sometimes constipation. I seemed to always have heartburn, wind, pain or bloating. My doctor did not take me seriously as he said there was nothing really wrong with me. I tried cutting out various things such as diary or wheat, but it made no real difference. In the end I became very depressed and gradually cut down my food so much I was looking really ill and thin. Seeing Jacqueline changed my life. She used food diary analysis to pin point exactly what was upsetting me. She explained that cutting out certain things with FODMAPS and then reintroducing them would enable us to get a better picture of things. It was complicated but Jacqueline made it easy for me. She taught me all about IBS and how to manage it well. I can now eat almost everything without any symptoms. I never imagined I would feel so healthy again. I am also a normal weight and enjoy a normal life. I did not only learn about IBS but how to eat healthily and enjoy it too. Jacqueline is a lovely person and gave me so much support whenever I needed it. I felt as though my whole body and soul was being mended and put together again. I have recommended her to 3 other people for other things and they are all very happy too.
Sports Performance I am a very keen runner and have competed in various marathons and races. Despite my best efforts I was starting to not see any improvement in my times and feeling increasingly exhausted during and after training. I decided to give a nutritionist a go to see if I could get back on track. Jackie was fantastic, with simple adjustments and tips I quickly started to feel more energised and training became enjoyable again. Jackie created a diet plan that was realistic, healthy and met my needs perfectly!
Diabetes In 2013, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Like many, I was quite shocked and confused. I was struggling to get the necessary time and support from the NHS that I needed and I wanted a more personable approach. Jacqueline answered all my questions and concerns with great knowledge and useful information. Being able to have someone that can reassure and monitor you so thoroughly is so incredibly beneficial and calming. After 4 consultations and regular email correspondence I can't recommend Jacqueline more highly. Thank you.
